We decided to not expand our real estate investment. 🏘️

Our Airbnbs aren't just doing well—they're thriving. 💰💰💰

They've let us live mortgage-free, worry-free about utilities, internet, or maintenance, all while building home equity (and the appreciation rate in our area is just…sweet 🥹).

Oh, and they’ve added some cash flow! ✨

The best part? They help us save and make even more money (yep, more!) while we’re off traveling. 💃🕺

Setting up an Airbnb that would stand out in the sea of Airbnbs requires serious willpower. 😩

It took weekends of hard work, sweat, and literally blood. 🩸 We even shed a few pounds in the process. 🫠 But once they’re up and running, everything operates like a well-oiled machine.

So, why aren't we expanding something we seem to have a knack at?

We’re on this path not to get rich but to achieve Freedom. And for us, Freedom means:

✔️ Enjoying financial security and practicing generosity

✔️ Having time to pursue hobbies and passions

✔️ Spending quality time with loved ones

✔️ Having the flexibility to live life on our terms

If we kept building our Airbnb empire to the point we could quit our full-time jobs, it wouldn’t be early retirement; it’d be a career switch. 🤷🏻‍♀️ And it defeats our purpose of achieving freedom to do what we enjoy, rather than out of necessity for income.

We aim to be intentional about how we generate income and the trade-offs we accept.

Short, mid, or long-term rentals come with their own set of challenges.

We were woken up at 2 AM in Costa Rica when an Airbnb guest couldn’t find the door code. 🙄 A friend of ours once got a call from their long-term tenant about a heater that blew up to pieces 😱—also during ungodly hours. My coworker filed a law suit 👩‍⚖️ against his long-term tenant because ‘She damaged everything in the house.’ Well, you got the idea.

What about a co-host or property manager? The competent ones will eat into your profit margin like sharks, 🦈 and the not-so-competent ones are like dead weight, sinking you to the bottom of despair. 💀

So we’re working hard to free ourselves financially and mentally by learning when enough is enough.

Having Airbnbs is a critical piece of our path to Freedom, and once they've served their purpose, there’s no need to acquire more properties. ✋

If a decision doesn’t align with our Freedom goals, we drop it—no matter how much money it could bring in. Friends, nothing is worth more than your peace of mind and well-being, nothing at the end of the day. 😌

Honing the Joy of Missing Out (JOMO) is a crucial skill on the path to Freedom. 💎

When we're clear on our values, we find the empathy and courage to say, ‘What you’re doing is amazing, and I’m happy for you, but it’s not the life I want to live.’

So, here’s our constant reminder (mostly for Angie, because Tyler is the king 🤴🏼 of patience when it comes to Investments)

  The organization? Spot on. 🤌 Everything from quick-access pockets to super secure compartments is thoughtfully designed.

  But here’s the star of the show—the strap thickness! 🌟 If Angie used the previous bag for just a little bit each day, no biggie. But after wearing it every day, almost all day, during our month-long stay in Mexico, she started feeling the weight digging into her shoulder. 😫 Lesson learned: 👨🏻‍🏫 the thick strap makes all the difference!
