I often get asked, 'So, what do you do at a meditation retreat?'
The simple answer is, 'You eat, sleep, meditate, and repeat. Then, over time, you heal, live fully in the present moment, and gain wisdom.'
At these retreats, I practice cultivating a mind free from worry, anxiety, aversion, craving, attachment, judgment, and yes—especially thoughts. 💭
This is achieved through continuous mindfulness with the right attitude: accepting everything as it is, whether pleasant or not.
Over time, my mind becomes more balanced, and I’ve experienced moments of equanimity. In those moments, I feel deep love and acceptance for myself and the world around me.
I even find joy in simple things, like walking to the restroom. 🤭
I’ve learned to let go of disturbing thoughts and uncomfortable feelings more quickly and gently.
That’s why I keep returning to these retreats, even though they’ve been, and will always be, the hardest thing I’ve ever put myself through. 🫠
They provide the perfect environment to intensely train my mind to be present. And each time, I carry some of that presence back into my daily life, living more mindfully.
It’s the highest form of self-compassion for me. 💙
